Re: 3.1 Auto swap to a 2.8 Manual
You should be able to run the 2.8 as long as you run a TPS for transmission control. 2.8 and 3.0 blocks are identical externally, so any bolt on components will swap directly.

Depends on the injectors you have, there are multiple types with different specs

There are multiple injector types for the JB1, opening pressures vary between the different types.

JJ1 nozzles are not correct, they are designed for a vertical centrally mounted injector not slanted/offset type used in the JB1. This ends up with a very uneven spray pattern once in a JB1 bowl.

Re: Max advance travel on injector pump reached, what now?
At 3700 rpm you are well past peak torque, they will fall over quickly after that. When you say you blanked off the CSD, what did you do exactly? I believe the CSD solenoid also functions as a metering orifice when not active, so if not replaced with a similar restriction may cause issues with ...

Re: 4JB1 racing camshatf... Where?
What is your idea of a racing camshaft? There are no off the shelf options for a 4JB1. Need to go to a camshaft manufacture/ machinist that has experience in diesels, give them info of your setup and an educated guess can be made on camshaft modifications. Don’t expect petrol performance cam gains ...

Pretty good to be honest, i drive it everyday. It’s still making more torque off boost than peak torque on a stock JB1.
