Changing injectors to new head. Help! 4jg2

Post by Mel31 »

We are changing over our old injectors to the new Chinese head we have from our bighorn 4jg2. The engine gasket set has in it the 2 copper parts and the small washer 3rd from the right shown in the picture. In the manual it is very specific about changing the heat sheild every time an injector is out.

When we bought the head we were advised to swap out the part second from the right into the new head. Looking at the manual they seem to be considering this the heat sheild? The supplier says this is the injector seat.

Our "injector seat" from this particular injector was covered in carbon on the top as was the copper part and washer closer to the injector. It has 2 small, what look like cracks and a pit on the inner circle of the top. Our parts supplier can't get them new. Does anyone know where we can?

Can anyone unconfuse me?

My brother is unsure about the way the copper washers go onto the injector.

Going by the manual that's they way they fit. also there should be a mark on the injector body a dot that lines up on the head so it is positioned right so the spray goes in the right direction if I remember right.

Having some drama's with the injectors on the new engine.
the injector nearest to firewall is leaking (air mostly) .
The engine turns over fine, fire after priming fuel filter/pump
starts for a few turns then stops.
hopefully they can sort this out today

Ben where is it leaking from the metal fuel line or the seal where the injector sits in to the head its self.
is the injector seated properly there should be a alignment mark where it lines up with the glow plug if I remember right.

Steve, the txt i just received sounds like there was no heat sheild or spacer washers suplied with the new rebuilt injectors. So they are going to use the one's out of the old motor.
It never ends..... :o
